Build and Destroy, Destroy and Build

Brutalist Architecture

Concrete poetry, pattern poetry or shape poetry is poetry in which the typographical arrangement of words is as important in conveying the intended effect as the conventional elements of the poem, such as meaning of words, rhythm, rhyme and so on.

It is sometimes referred to as visual poetry; a term that has evolved to have distinct meaning of its own, because the words themselves form a pictures. Using this method, I will create postcards representing the Brutalist Architecture from the 1950 through to the 70's. The buildings where created mainly using concrete which is on of the reasons I have decided to mimic the style of concrete poetry to represent the buildings typographically. The other reason is the fact that concrete poetry was coined around the 1950's, when the Brutalist Design was also emerging.
